Emilia Castillo is a visual artist who works primarily through painting and ceramics. She has been producing work professionally since 2020 and has participated in several international group exhibitions.

In February 2025, she presented her work in Espresso Vol. I in Rome, Italy, alongside Terzo Hub and Colabart; later that same year, in July, she took part in Colpo di Calore, also in Rome. In December 2025, she participated in Flan Vol. 2 with Acero Galería in Quito, Ecuador. And most recently she participated in a collective exhibit at Sofonisba Atelier in Hosle, Norway.

Her artistic practice centers on self-portraits as an intimate archive: collections of memories, emotions, and inner states that emerge from the need to externalize in order to remember. Through her work, she also explores feminine memory as it relates to her life, lineage, and territory.

My artistic practice is grounded in memory, care, and emotional experience as forms of knowledge. I work primarily through self-portraiture and intimate archives, understanding the body and the image as spaces where personal history and the feminine memory of my territory are inscribed.

My work does not seek the exposure of excess, but its integration: transforming intensity into containment, experience into form, and emotion into habitable structure. I am interested in creating visual and conceptual spaces where sensitivity can rest without losing depth, and where the intimate enters into dialogue with the collective.

I conceive art as an act of affective and ethical responsibility—a practice sustained over time that cares for both process and outcome. My work moves between tenderness and clarity, offering a reflective gaze on identity, belonging, and legacy.
